The transfer market is in full swing, and after the recent announcements about Christophe Charlier and Davide Soreca joining Honda, it’s now clear that Alex Salvini will also ride a Honda RedMoto CRF 450 RX in the Enduro 2 category. But the unlucky hero of the 2018 season, who narrowly lost out on two titles due to mechanical issues, will not join Christophe Charlier and Thomas Oldratti in the official Honda RedMoto team since he will be part of his own private team: the S2 Motorsport Sembenini Honda RedMoto team.
With this arrangement he will still benefit from mechanical help and receive backing from the official team during the season. The Italian has already proven his penchant for red since he won his first and only World Champion title in E2 in 2013 with a CRF 450. He backed this up with two Vice-Champion finishes in 2014 and 2015.
Alex Salvini: “I’m very excited to go back to Honda and form a team, but for sure my primary goal is to be a high-performance rider. I have known Gino and Piero Sembenini for a long time and our collaboration is born after talks. They did a great job with Grattarola in the trial competitions, bringing professionalism and a good reputation. These skills, together with the experience from the high-level championships, will be a strength in enduro. Our goal is to build a team with motivated staff: I can bring my experience as a rider and Sembenini’s brothers as technical and sporting manager”.
